Designed by one of Chicago's most influential architects, Holabird and Roche, Fort Sheridan's buildings served military purposes from 1892-1993. See the concept of adaptive reuse implemented to transform former stables, barracks and arsenal depots to attractive and luxurious homes.
Fort Sheridan has everything to recommend it. A theater turned into an internationally acclaimed sculpture studio. A former military prison turned into a haven for over 1,000 music students from 84 suburbs and three states. Former stables have become magnificent homes. Green space abounds, including a Lake County Forest Preserve reclaimed from an Army airstrip and missile site.
